United Commercial Bank PLC (UCB) organised a promotional activity on Bangla QR transactions at ShoppingBag Super Market on Chatteswari Road in Chattogram, aiming to raise awareness and encourage the use of convenient digital payments, a press release said.
As part of the activity, Swarup Kumar Chowdhury, Executive Director (Current Charge), Bangladesh Bank, along with Mohammad Mamdudur Rashid, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of UCB, made transactions using Bangla QR, demonstrating how customers can make payments by scanning a QR code through supported banking and payment applications.
The initiative highlighted Bangla QR as an interoperable payment solution that enables customers to make digital payments conveniently at merchant outlets while helping merchants become part of the digital payment ecosystem.
Mohammad Mamdudur Rashid, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of UCB, said, “Digital payments can create greater value when they are simple, accessible and convenient for everyday use. Through this initiative, we want more customers and merchants to experience the convenience of Bangla QR. UCB remains committed to supporting a more digital and inclusive financial ecosystem in Bangladesh.”
Also present at the event were Md. Sajjad Hossain Chowdhury, Additional Director; Md. Rashedul Islam, Joint Director; and Mahfuzur Rahman, Assistant Director, Bangladesh Bank; Md. Abdullah Al Mamoon, PMP, Deputy Managing Director & Chief Operating Officer (COO); Zeeshan Kingshuk Huq, Chief Communications Officer (CCO), UCB; along with other officials from Bangladesh Bank and UCB.
