Eastern Bank PLC (EBL) organized a Student Banking Conference on 26 September in Faridpur under the aegis of Bangladesh Bank’s nationwide Student Banking Campaign, aimed at raising awareness about banking and financial services among young learners, a press release said.
The conference, held at the Bangladesh Shishu Academy, Faridpur, brought together 180 students and teachers from 35 schools, colleges, and madrasahs, alongside representatives from 35 banks operating in the district. The primary objective was to instill the importance of savings and nurture a savings-oriented mindset from an early age.
Md. Habibur Rahman, Additional Director of Bangladesh Bank, attended the event as the Chief Guest. The conference was presided over by Nadim Rahman, SVP and Branch Area Head of Eastern Bank PLC. Distinguished attendees included Md. Tangimul Islam, General Manager In charge, Sonali Bank PLC., Bishnu Pada Ghoshal, District Education Officer, Faridpur and Md. Mahabub-Ul Alam, Deputy Director of Bangladesh Bank.
The conference started with a colorful rally, setting an energetic tone among the participants. Students participated in an interactive quiz competition organized by Bangladesh Bank, with winners receiving prizes. A cultural performance, including a puppet show, creatively demonstrated the benefits of student banking and the importance of financial literacy under the theme of the “Banking Umbrella.”
