DHAKA : A training workshop titled “(i) An overview of
Public Procurement Act, 2006 & Public Procurement Rules, 2025; and (ii) An
introduction to e-GP system, how it works and benefits” was held today at 10:00
AM in the BCI Boardroom, organized by the Bangladesh Chamber of Industries
(BCI). Mrs. Priti Chakraborty, Senior Vice President of BCI, presided over the
inaugural session, while BCI President Anwar-ul-Alam Chowdhury (Parvez)
distributed training certificates to the participants at the concluding
session. S. M. Moin Uddin Ahmed, former
Secretary and Chief Executive Officer of the Bangladesh Public Procurement
Authority, attended as the resource person. BCI members, representatives from
organizations participating in government procurement, lawyers, entrepreneurs,
and trainees attended the workshop, a press release said.
In her presidential address at the inaugural
session—conducted by BCI Secretary General Dr. Md. Helal Uddin, NDC—Priti
Chakraborty stated that BCI is constantly working to enhance the capacity of
the business community. She noted that today’s training would help participants
gain accurate knowledge regarding the technical aspects of the e-GP system,
thereby enabling them to stay ahead in business competition.
In the final segment of the workshop, held in the presence
of the BCI President, feedback was collected from the participants. The BCI
President spoke about BCI’s ongoing training initiatives and distributed
certificates to the participants. He extended thanks to the resource person and
all participants on behalf of BCI.
In the first and second sessions of the workshop, S. M.
... Moin Uddin Ahmed, former Secretary and Chief Executive Officer of the
Bangladesh Public Procurement Authority, conducted participatory discussions
across two sessions covering: (i) an overview of the Public Procurement Act,
2006 and Public Procurement Rules, 2025; and (ii) an introduction to the e-GP
system, its functionality, and its benefits. In addition to explaining the key
aspects of public procurement laws and regulations, he highlighted the
significant role of the e-GP system in ensuring transparency, accountability,
and digital transformation in government procurement in Bangladesh. He also
elaborated on the process of participating in tenders via the e-GP system and
how it facilitates faster and more streamlined operations.
Participants expressed the view that the training
workshop, organized by BCI, was highly productive, particularly due to the
interactive question-and-answer sessions.
