Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) President Tamim Iqbal visited the corporate office of electronics giant Walton. The aim is to take effective steps to create new opportunities in future cricket by ensuring Walton’s sponsorship and support for the overall development of cricket, in addition to revamping the country’s domestic cricket, a press release said.
A high-level delegation of 6 members from BCB led by Tamim Iqbal visited Walton Corporate Office on Tuesday (August 25, 2026) afternoon. Other members of the delegation included BCB Vice-President Fahim Sinha, Chief Executive Officer Nazim Uddin Chowdhury, BCB Marketing and Commercial Division Chairman Masud Uzzaman and Marketing and Commercial Division Vice-Chairman Asif Rabbani.
During the visit, the guests paid a courtesy call on Walton Hi-Tech Industries PLC Vice-Chairman SM Ashraful Alam, Managing Director SM Mahbubul Alam and other senior officials.
After visiting Walton Corporate Office, BCB President Tamim Iqbal said, Walton is a renowned and leading organization in the electronics sector of Bangladesh. Walton has already earned a great reputation as a sports-friendly organization. Throughout my playing career, I have always seen Walton sponsoring all cricket events. The Walton brand is closely associated with the country’s cricket field. Walton has been regularly sponsoring various cricket events, starting from domestic cricket to national and international cricket events. His expectation is that Walton will continue to contribute to the overall development of cricket by extending its support to reorganize all formats (longer versions, one-day, and T20) of Bangladesh Cricket League (BCL) and National Cricket League (NCL) through franchises on the lines of BPL.
He also said, we have taken the initiative to make tournaments like BCL and NCL franchise-based. Our expectation is that Walton will present itself as a team there.
Walton Hi-Tech Vice-Chairman SM Ashraful Alam said, our goal is to establish Walton and Bangladesh as a hub for electronics and technology products to the world and to make the Walton brand one of the best global brands in the world. Walton’s brand business is already being conducted in 55 countries around the world, beyond the borders of the country. As part of this, Walton has been sponsoring various sports including cricket with good reputation since the beginning. Walton has sponsored all types of cricket, from domestic to national and international. He assured the BCB president that Walton’s sponsorship of all types of sports, including cricket, will continue in the future.
Walton Hi-Tech Managing Director SM Mahbubul Alam said, wherever there is sports, Walton is present. Walton has been sponsoring the country’s domestic, national and international cricket for more than a decade. Walton will be there wherever the Bangladesh national cricket team goes to play. BCB has announced that it will make BCL and NCL franchise-based. It also wants to work on ODI and T20 formats. Welcoming the BCB president’s grand plan, he assured all-out cooperation from Walton.
It is worth noting that, in addition to international cricket, Walton has sponsored the most prestigious and prestigious domestic cricket tournaments, the Dhaka Premier League and the National Cricket League (NCL), for 13 consecutive seasons. Walton was also the franchise of the Central Zone team in the first-class Bangladesh Cricket League (BCL) for 9 consecutive years.
