The seminar titled “July Revolution: Role of Engineers in State Reforms” was moderated by the President of Forum of Diploma Engineers Bangladesh (FDEB) Engineer Abdus Chattar Shah and General Secretary Engineer Zainul Abedin. The Honorable Central Advisor of FDEB, Saiful Alam Khan Milon, MP, was present as the chief guest at the seminar titled “July Revolution: Role of Engineers in State Reforms”, a press release said.
In his speech as the chief guest, he said, “We want a state where decisions are made in the public interest, development is done without discrimination and state resources are used transparently. The role of engineers in this place is very important. Because engineers are directly involved in most of the visible development projects of the country. Engineers are needed in the planning and implementation of roads, bridges, electricity, water, sewage, industries, housing, ports, railways - everything. The first responsibility of engineers in state reform is is to ensure professional integrity. Engineers must take a professional stand against poor quality work, excessive costs, unnecessary projects, political influence and irregularities. We must remember that an engineer’s signature is not just a signature on a piece of paper, it involves people’s lives, state finances and the security of future generations. Therefore, engineers must be a symbol of honesty, efficiency and accountability in the post-July state.
Special guest Colonel Abdul Baten MP said in his speech that one of the main issues of state reform is corruption control. Excessive costs in development projects, unnecessary work, low-quality construction materials, fake measurements, excessive bills and inconsistency of expenditure with the quality of work harm the state’s economy. Digital measurement, transparent tenders, quality control, third-party technical audits and transparent disclosure of project expenditure are necessary in every project. Our engineers must say that if the quality of work is not good, my signature will not be there.
Senior Secretary of the Technical and Madrasa Education Department (Retd) Dr. Kh. M. Kabirul Islam also spoke as a special guest. The main article of the seminar was presented by Technical Education Researcher and Dr. Syed Abdul Aziz
